It pleases me to think that our work in Pasadena in the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, first in collecting experimental information about the structure of molecules, then in developing structural principles, and then in applying these principles to discover the alpha helix and the pleated sheets, has shown how important structural chemistry can be in the field of molecular biology.
